Earth Background

If canon were the color black my game would probably be a light gray. If you’ve played Aberrant and know it well, many things might be Familiar to you if we played in that setting. T2M ( A costumed Nova team working with/for the U.N.) is still doing its thing; Terats (Novas bucking the system with a movement that says we are no longer human so stuff all your rules.) are still doing their things, and all such follow. Where canon changes most of you will not be able to perceive it right away so it’s hard for me to list what’s different and what’s the same. IF you have not played Aberrant, then all of this is meaningless to you but might be interesting.

The first real change you will all see right off is that Nova’s (humans with powers) are not the only known and public power of the world at large. Don’t be surprised if your T2M-er came face to face with a being from another WoD game I’ll leave you to stew in that. But I will say that you are not going to see rampaging packs of Garou and vengeful cells of Brothers of the Technocratic Union. I love to do mini crossovers now and then so don’t be surprised. It’s all about a fun and interesting story.
I am also not running a canon DC or Marvel world. This one is more dark and definitely NOT a 4 color world where everything has happy endings; where people get thrown through walls and get back up without a scratch; or where buildings fall down and no innocents get hurt. Beings with abilities, for the most part, are REQUIRED by U.N. Law to register at discovery of their abilities. If you are not from this planet, not that it’s a regular occurrence, unless you are one not to be stopped very easily, you are going to find yourself peacefully ‘incarcerated’ for a short time while you are ‘interviewed.’

Then the number of eruptions (points at which humans deveop their meta-abilities) and the eruption cause is varied from canon. There were two series of eruptions, one from the explosion of the Galatea space station and one almost 10 years later. There was the original influx of new novas from the Galatea in March of 1998 and then again, in a smaller number in late December of 2008. Not many know the cause behind this second eruption of new Nova’s. This second insurgence of Quantum however did help a very few of the already erupted Novas by increasing their power levels; it killed even fewer.

The biggest non-canon change involves things that most characters will likely never encounter but I need to give some attention here to prevent unwelcome surprises.

The following is OOC knowledge.
Part of the “Grand Behind the Scenes” information involves the fall and destruction of many gods, the rising to god-hood or many mortals, the formation of several separate and individual existences, and an “Ultimate” power causing all of this. This Ultimate power is a man named Ba’laan Tonaan K’vaari and is basically a self proclaimed ruler of all that is. He has set up many rules of reality that we cannot shoose to defy, like gravity, that some people just don’t agree with. One of these Bans he has set in place was a prohibition on any form of instantaneous travel or FTL movement. Some other bans are the use of Temporal powers, creating Artificial Intelligence, and having starship weaponry. Many of the peoples throughout reality are in disagreement with many of his restrictions but are effectively powerless to oppose him.

His rules are extratemporal, inter-reality, multi-existence, and fundamental truths that simply cannot be ignored any more than the law that governs gravity or the need of humans to eat and breathe. When someone finds a way to break one of the bans, his enforcers usually will arrive and put an end to the offending power, by removal or otherwise. The benefit to all of you is that, technically, the ban has not been made yet. It’s made in the future and Ba’laans notice has not gone to earth this far in the past. You should be able to escape notice to some degree for awhile. Even in the areas where the ban has taken some level of control, there are in-game ways to shunt its effects.

One of the major contributing Houses involved with the resistance of Ba’laan is House Rathien or House Anelon of which Asche Lonn was the Lord of. Asche is still involved in the developing and defending of those possessing banned effects and will at times step in to inform the unknowing offenders of their likely fall into disfavor with an angry alien god. Asche has come to Earth and through various happenstances has become stranded here and separated from his native time nearly 315,000 years in the future. If you possess an ability that might lend a benefit to the impending conflict against Ba’laan, you likely will be contacted by House Anelon or its envoys.

There are a few other Major changes I’ve made to Behind the scenes canon , but you will need to discover that on your own in due time.

Consider the planet identical to the earth today in regard to social and political structure, technology, races, etc.

So where is the highest concentrated veins of this extrememly rare material? That will determine where Kara will go next.

Agalit is found in very trace amounts; less than a few hundred milligrams is typically found in any "high-concentration." It takes about 5 pounds or 2.25 kilograms to activate and subsequently power any sub-quantum replicators for various lengths of time. The issue lies in the fact that Agalit is both found in small quantities and is not located in very many known areas. Since it exists in such small amounts its difficult to find it with scanners unless your within a relatively small area, say 7-10 miles. Some Nations; US, Russia, Europe, Mexico, China and Japan use automated probes that sweep the ocean floor at slow speed (for more accurate scans) hoping to find quantifiable amounts of Agalit. This mineral so far is resistant to quantum pings and even mega perceptive novas have some difficulty locating it. Stockpiles that various peoples have gathered are typically shielded so as to prevent detection from enemies at any range.

The Protectorate came here, according to records, because there was no measurable amounts in the system. Of course when they first arrived, Agalit was found in several thousand kilogram piles through the world. It seemed that Asche and the Protectorate were working on ways inside the UN and USA/Europe governments to locate their stockpiles. Nothing is noted as to their progress but that was a long time ago anyhow and the team went MIA.

So Kara is going to make her way to Western United States coast... Oceanside to be specific.
